A busy family home on a tight urban plot, tired of fuel queues and a generator that woke the whole street. We built the array over the outbuilding roof and put the inverters and batteries in a dedicated plant room.

A busy family home on a tight urban plot, hemmed in by neighbours, with a generator that woke the whole street.
Fuel queues, a machine that ran most evenings, and no roof space where the obvious answer would fit. The plot made a straightforward rooftop install impossible.
Grid supply with a petrol generator run through the evening peak.
With no usable roof on the main house, the array went onto the outbuilding — panels hoisted up from the balcony by hand, one at a time, and set out across the flat roof. The plant room was built out with twin inverters and batteries, then tied into the house board through a new changeover panel.
The generator now sits idle for weeks at a time. The array is sized with headroom, so cooling can be added later without replacing the inverters or the battery bank.
